Perfect soundboard recording. New York Dolls had reformed after 29 years to play the Meltdown Festival on 11th June 2004 at the request of festival curator and long-time fan of the Dolls, Morrissey. Sadly, the reunion of the three surviving original members was short-lived as bassist Arthur "Killer" Kane died from Leukemia a month later on 13th July. This show took place just six weeks later with ex-Hanoi Rocks bassist Sami Yaffa in the line-up, a position he filled until 2010. This stunning set was available for a short while as a paid-for digital (Windows Media) download, but as it's been unavailable for years, it seems only fair to make it available once again.

Hello Reg, not a comment about the New York Dolls but a word of praise in general. Just wanted to say I really enjoy your blog and have greatly enjoyed listening to some of the tunes you've posted. The live experience is just as critical (to me at least) as a band's studio recorded output, and so, as well as going to gigs, it's brilliant to be able to listen to such high-quality live recordings as these. And it's free! And legal! Fantastic! As someone who enjoys his rock closer to the Soulfly end of the spectrum than the Big Country,it's great too that you've not been afraid to include some heavier stuff. Keep up the good work, and all the best...
