Good quality recording, possibly from a soundboard source, but certainly quite a few generations removed from the original recording.

Thanks alot Reg...I've read quite a few comments on various blogs from people enthusing about some or other band changing their lives. Now I can't honestly say in the greater scheme of things that The Jam did that for me- that kind of accolade would have to go to the likes of Magazine or..well, thinking about it, Here & Now or even Crass(Politically rather than musically in the latter's case). But This gig at Reading University was the most exciting night of my life to date (and I haven't got kids or a wifey so no bollockings for that comment!).
As you mentioned they were supported by Secret Affair who played their debut (not a fan..not then, not now!)gig..in fact I wouldn't even have clicked on the link if I hadn't seen that post, cos I don't listen to Weller & co these days except when I'm feeling old and nostalgic (Gang of Four/Wire/Magazine? I still play their stuff regularly!!)so cheers. The one album I really dig actually is Sound Affects, which wasn't the case when they released it.
But back to this gig..cheers for the post! I had just turned 12 years old,and got a ticket from my art teacher.I went with some older kids(they were about 14/15..how any of us got in is a miracle!) and my mum and dad insisted on picking me up after the gig.memories.... :)

I went to about 16 gigs that last tour around Europe. Was a great year all round for me. But if it was upto me Id have made sure bloody kids were kept out. Tell me who wants to see kids at a gig specially The Jam. Fortunarely only ones I see were at the Odeon and I was wasted anyway. Ive many live recordings and dtill love alot of the Jam although must admit my tastes to all their stuff has changed.
