This was recorded at a free all-day festival organised by and in support of the then Greater London Council, whose leader, Ken Livingstone, appeared on stage at one point to give a speech. Also on the bill were New Model Army, Benjamin Zephaniah, Strawberry Switchblade, The Fall and headliners The Damned. There may well have been a couple of others, too. The crowd was huge and chaotic. You'll hear singer Kirk Brandon asking the audience first to stop throwing cans then, a song later, bottles. It was especially chaotic when The Damned were playing. If you've not heard The Damned's set that day, download it from my earlier post - it's reckoned to be one of the best gigs they ever played. I certainly thought so.

This is a good recording, particularly the second half of the set, when the taper appears to have moved to somewhere with a clearer sound, though it all sounds good, really. Enjoy!
